加藤　里志 / Satoshi Kato

山梨県甲斐市出身。甲府第一高等学校を卒業後、洗足学園音楽大学に進学。在学中、特別選抜演奏者に認定され、前田奨学金奨学生として研鑽を積む。前田記念賞受賞。

2001年山梨県管打楽器ソロコンテスト第1位および審査員特別賞受賞。同年、全日本ジュニア管打楽器ソロ・コンテスト優秀賞受賞。2008年第25回日本管打楽器コンクール第5位入選。

ソリストとしての活動は多岐にわたり、リサイタルの開催をはじめ、オーケストラや吹奏楽団との共演、さらに演出家・美術家など他分野の芸術家とのコラボレーションにも積極的に取り組んでいる。

海外においても活動を展開しており、2019年には香港政府機関の招聘を受け、Dr. Mike Fansler指揮によるHong Kong Youth Symphonic Band（HKYSB）と共に福廣秀一朗作曲《Unity》を世界初演。あわせてマスタークラスおよびソロリサイタルを開催した。

2023年および2024年には、ハンガリー・ソルノク市立交響楽団の定期演奏会およびニューイヤーコンサートにソリストとして出演。金井俊文指揮のもと、J.イベール《アルト・サクソフォーンと11の楽器のための室内小協奏曲》ほかを共演し、好評を博す。

アンサンブル活動にも力を注ぎ、ブルーオーロラ・サクソフォンクァルテットのテナーサクソフォン奏者として活動。2021年にはNHK「クラシック倶楽部」に出演し、同年リリースのアルバム『Melodia Sentimental』は「レコード芸術」誌にて特選盤に選出。

これまでにNHK交響楽団、神奈川フィルハーモニー管弦楽団、東京交響楽団、東京フィルハーモニー交響楽団、読売日本交響楽団など国内主要オーケストラに客演。また、映画音楽、テレビ・CM、ゲーム音楽などのレコーディングにも多数参加している。

2024年以降は、NHK Eテレ『みいつけた！』のテーマ音楽においてフィーチャー・ソリストを務めている。

教育活動にも積極的に取り組み、東邦音楽大学、甲斐清和高等学校音楽科、神奈川県立相模原弥栄高等学校音楽科にて後進の指導にあたる。

日本クラシック音楽協会より2016年、2019年、2025年、2026年の4度にわたり優秀指導者賞を受賞。

2025年には日本サクソフォーン協会主催「第41回ジャパン・サクソフォーン・フェスティバル」において実行委員長を務めるなど、演奏・教育・企画の各分野において幅広く活動している。

Satoshi Kato, Saxophone

Saxophonist Satoshi Kato maintains a distinguished career as a soloist, chamber musician, and educator both in Japan and internationally. Renowned for his mastery of the classical repertoire, Kato is equally recognized for his innovative interdisciplinary collaborations with visual artists and stage directors.

His international profile includes recent solo appearances with the Szolnok Symphony Orchestra (Hungary) under the baton of Toshifumi Kanai, where his performances of Jacques Ibert’s Concertino da camera received high critical acclaim. In 2019, he was invited by the Hong Kong government to premiere Shuichiro Fukuhara’s Unity with the Hong Kong Youth Symphonic Band.

As a leading voice in chamber music, Kato is the tenor saxophonist of the Blue Aurora Saxophone Quartet. The ensemble’s recent album, Melodia Sentimental, was awarded “Specially Recommended” status by Record Geijutsu magazine, and their performances have been broadcast nationally on NHK’s Classic Club.

In addition to his solo work, Kato is a frequent guest with Japan’s premier orchestras, including the NHK Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo Philharmonic, and Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra. His versatile artistry also extends to the recording studio, where he has contributed to numerous soundtracks for film, television, and video games. Since 2024, he has been the featured soloist for the theme of NHK Educational TV’s Miitsuketa!.

A committed pedagogue, Kato serves on the faculties of Toho College of Music, Kai Seiwa High School, and Sagamihara Yaei High School. He is a four-time recipient of the Outstanding Instructor Award from the Japan Classical Music Association. In 2025, he furthered his leadership within the community as the Executive Committee Chair of the 41st Japan Saxophone Festival.

Kato is a graduate of Senzoku Gakuen College of Music, where he was a Maeda Scholar and a recipient of the Maeda Memorial Prize.
